Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:45 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Early-Morning Care Program.
The school day begins at 8:45 a.m. when students enter the building and go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classroom where they are beginning instructional activities.
A tardy bell at 9:15 a.m. signals that the formal school day has started.
Picking up students prior to dismissal is discouraged except for medical appointments or necessary trips.
The end of the school day is at 3:45 p.m. when children are dismissed to go to carpool, van, or bus areas. Students must be picked up promptly at dismissal unless they are in the YMCA After School Program. School staff cannot assume responsibility for students waiting to be picked up beyond 3:45 p.m.
After dismissal in the afternoon, students are not to return to the classroom for homework, books, or lunch boxes left behind. Students demonstrate responsibility for collecting all of their items prior to dismissal. This is a safety issue, as students are not supervised after dismissal and teachers often have meetings and are not in the classroom.
