Audiovisual helper

Assist with AV equipment needs for various PTA meetings/performances

Book Fair

(April) Sell books, set-up and clean-up before and after book fair and help on Ice Cream Family Night. 1-2 hour daytime and nighttime and slots available.

Box Tops/Harris-Teeter Milkcaps Fundraiser

Assist in counting Box Tops and Milkcaps. Can be done at home. Perfect for stay-at-home parents with young children!

Business Liaison

Coordinate, promote and create ways to involve business partners in Stough's activities

Cafeteria

Assist staff with the supervision of students during breakfast or lunch hours

Carpool Lane Supervision

Help greet and unload students from cars in the morning 8:45-9:15.

Coupon Book Sale

This new fall fundraiser needs volunteers to assist with processing orders and distribution of coupon books during the 3-week fundraising period. Daytime assistance needed.

Copy Team

Assist with copying and distribution of school-wide flyers and announcements. Flexible daytime hours.

Cultural Arts

Support visiting artist programs throughout the school year by greeting performing artists, assist with set-up, clean-up, coordination and scheduling of performances. Daytime volunteer position.

Directory

(September) Detail-oriented parents needed to assist with typing and entry of student directory information forms. Can be done at home.

DoDads

Volunteer Dads who perform various handyman and miscellaneous tasks around the school

ESL Helper

help our ESL teachers with clerical tasks, translate written materials into Spanish, or verbal translations at meetings

Grounds

Help maintain grounds by raking, planting, and other gardening tasks

Kids Voting

Work one or more hours on election day (Tuesday, November 4th) to staff Stough's voting precinct.

Mardi Gras – (late Feb., Sat. afternoon) Help set up and take down games, decorations and venues; serve food and run game booths for our exciting Mardi Gras carnival – Stough’s biggest fundraiser!

Media Center

Shelve books and perform various tasks. Flexible daytime hours available.

PE Testing

(December) Assist the PE teacher with the required physical testing of all students. Students who perform well are selected for participation in the county-wide First in Fitness contest. 1-3 hours during school day.

Reflections

(Late fall) Help plan and coordinate this nationwide art/literature contest sponsored by the PTA. Flexible hours.

Room Parent

Assist your child's teacher throughout the school year with classroom activities such as field trips and learning experiences, and enlist other parent support in your child's class.

Science and Math Night

(early October, 6-8pm) One of Stough PTA’s most popular programs! Assist exhibitors with entry/exit from classroom, help serve food at cafeteria.

Staff Appreciation

This committee plans all staff appreciation efforts including providing staff with breakfasts during staff meetings, a gift at Christmas time, a special luncheon in the spring, and Staff Appreciation Week.

Super Kids Day – Stough’s “Field Day”

(late May) Lead a game station and work an event for the students as they participate in fun-“field” events to celebrate the end of the school year.

T-shirts

(year-round) Sell Stough t-shirts at various school-wide events, help select new t-shirt design for next year.

Tutor/ Mentoring Program

Help a student 45 minutes per week with academics and serve as a consistent mentor. Flexible hours.

Vision Screening

Assist school nurse with screening students in early Fall. Requires 1-2 hour daytime commitment.

Walkathon

(late October) New fundraiser at Stough! Cheer for your child and assist with coordination of your child’s classroom in this school-wide physical-fitness event. 1-2 hour daytime commitment.

Yearbook Committee

Help design the layout of Stough’s yearbook and assist with yearbook sales & distribution
